Streaky Bay Marine Products (SBMP) is 100% family owned, established in 1985 primarily to process & export Abalone to Asian Markets. Cliff & Pam Edmunds started the business after being involved in the Abalone fishery in South Australia since 1977.

In the early 1980’s Cliff & Pam branded their Abalone products for the markets in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore & Japan. This helped establish trusting & reliable business relationships over 5 years, which encouraged both Cliff & Pam to purchase the Factory at Streaky Bay in 1985.

The company has since established itself in the Domestic Seafood Market, by producing a wide range of Scale Fish, Crustaceans & Shell Fish for the Eastern States.
As Streaky Bay Marine Products is perfectly located at the edge of the Great Australian Bight in South Australia (photo left), it has access to an abundance of Seafood products from the cleanest & best managed fisheries in the world.
The company has a reliable group of local fishermen who supply the majority of the domestic & export products. The Family group of companies also operates 2 wild catch Abalone Licences & 1 A Class Scale Fishing Licence, therefore securing the regular supply of these important products for the future of Streaky Bay Marine Products.
In recent years Streaky Bay Marine Products has looked to build on its Export success of its Abalone products into Asia, by investing in Abalone Aquaculture in Streaky Bay with Streaky Bay Aquaculture (SBA). With most fisheries now capped with Total Allowable Catches (TAC’s) enforced by the introduction of annual Quotas, the availability or opportunity to supply customers with increased quantities is limited.
Therefore aquaculture has become the future for further export opportunities and Streaky Bay Marine Products has engaged SBA under a supply agreement to achieve growth in this new market for the future.
Streaky Bay Marine Products were the recipients of the 2004 Eyre Peninsula SA Great Award, for the Best Business category. Streaky Bay Marine Products believe this award acknowledges their commitment to the Seafood Industry & has encouraged them to work even harder to promote their products on the world stage.
